HONOURABLE MINISTER OF EDUCATION AND TRAINING IN COLLABORATION WITH VODACOM LESOTHO HANDOVER A FULLY EQUIPPED COMPUTER LABORATORY

In a bit to assist Lesotho high school with computer laboratory, the honourable minister of education and training professor Ntoi Rapapa in collaboration with Vodacom Lesotho handed over a fully equipped computer lab to the school on the 23rd May 2018.

Speaking at the occasion, the honourable minister congratulated parents of Lesotho high school for paying school fees for their children using vodaom M-Pesa and stated that in this trying economic times, it takes a lot of dedication and commitment to the education of children for parents to pay their fees to the school particularly on time.

Professor Ntoi Rapapa went on on to say that it is an added bonus by paying school fees trough MPesa Vodacom money transfer service, parents were able to win this M-Pesa price for 2018 for Lesotho high school.

Moreover, he extended his gratitude's to the Vodacom Lesotho who continues to be a valued partner of the government of Lesotho in beaching the digital divide in the country and said that the price that Vodacom has offered Lesotho high school will go a long way in improving access to digital information technologies for the learners.

Professor Rapapa concluded that the facility that was handed over to Lesotho high school will add value to teaching and learning in the school and that the teachers and learners will use this opportunity optimally to improve their information technology skills and source information in other areas of learning.

Speaking at the same occasion, the managing director of Vodacom Mr Richard Tayob pointed out that Vodacom started this exciting campaign in 2016 as to invest in the future of the young generation of this country and encourages the convenience of paying school fees with MPesa.

The director added that M-Pesa makes it easier for parents to pay fees for their children, while also helping schools collect and mange school fees payments a lot easier. Mr Tayob continued to say that teachers play a crucial part to students and that education is also important. “everyone has a brain but how you put your mind to work is up to you,” said the Vodacom managing director.

He also added that people live in a world of digital migration whereby everything requires technology. Mr Tayob indicated that he hopes students will enjoy the use of these computers.

However, Mrs ‘Matiisetso Ramothamo as the school principal expressed her appreciation for the new computer laboratory. She said that they do not have enough words to describe how happy they are as the school. She went on to say that with this valuable assets, they got from Vodacom they will take care of them. She also said that as the school they were motivated by ST.Barnabas high school because they won the campaign last year.

Speaking on behalf of students, Bella Khoachele mentioned that as a computer studies student, she knows the pain of sharing a computer with someone else and that the research from the internet will add more knowledge from what they already know.
